Overview

My goal for obtaining a Master of Education Degree in Learning Design and Technology is to use the knowledge gained in the program of study to complement twenty-four years of experience in digital accessibility, assistive technology, and accommodating people with disabilities in educational environments. Understanding learning design and the technologies incorporated into our digital spaces supports my current role as NC State’s IT Accessibility Coordinator.

What I have learned in the program not only allows me to create better learning for the campus community around accessibility but also supports my understanding of the value added by some technologies that are not entirely accessible. Understanding how the technology supports learning makes it easier to help instructional designers, instructors, and other content creators with possible alternatives until I can work with the technology developers on their accessibility issues.
